National Motor-Vehicle-Title Information System Benefits

A national vehicle database went live in the United States this week. This database allows consumers to view the history of used vehicles including cars, trucks, SUVs and vans. The database is called the National Motor Vehicle Title Information System. Checking the past Iowa City used car history is not free though. A fee of less than $5 will be charged.
The used car history database was first proposed in the early 1990s. The idea went nowhere until consumer protection agencies got into the action and actually took legal action to force the federal government to develop this database. The Sioux City used car history database is run by the Justice Department.
As of January 1, 2010 all states, insurance carriers and junk yards are required to submit information on the vehicles to the database. There are five states that are currently not compliant though. Those are the District of Columbia, Oregon, Illinois, Mississippi and Kansas. These states are claiming that they do not have enough money for the computer upgrades and clerical work. Even without these states, 80% of registered vehicles are included in the database.
Besides allowing consumers to know a used car Pine City dealer history quickly, the NMVTIS is also providing surprising benefits. In Florida a car theft ring responsible for cloning 250 cars, was cracked using the NMVTIS. South Dakota and New Hampshire is saving consumer time with NMVTIS by no longer having to manually update a state record with returned title information. If your AutoCheck score is low, that doesn’t necessarily mean it’s a bad vehicle. The same with high AutoCheck scores. AutoCheck takes into account the age, mileage and other factors associated with that year, make, model of car. You should always compare the score with the score range to get a better idea of the vehicle’s rating. A luxury auto will have a higher score than a compact auto of the same year and mileage. An example of always checking the score range is a Lamborghini Gallardo with a salvage title and half of the vehicle left after a fire. It got a score of 90 because that’s the lowest score that car make/model/year could get. So a score of 5 may be great if the score range for the car is 0 to 5.
If two vehicles have close scores, will the higher score be the better one to buy? Not necessarily. If the cars are of similar model, year and class then check the mileage, car use, repossession, lease history and emissions testing. The score doesn’t check to see if it’s a rare car, collector car or have a cult following in one part of the country such as Iowa City Chevrolet.
If you see on the report “accident or damage reported” don’t automatically cross the car off your list. Even if the Bismarck used car bumped another car it will get this flag on the report. If there is no traffic ticket listed or case number for the incident, then it wasn’t anything major. Any insurance claim, even for a cracked windshield, will show up under the “accident or damage reported” section. So take this section with a grain of salt or more.
Having the report say that the car has a loan or lien record found does not mean the car has a loan or lien currently. It means that at one point in time that was the case. There will be no number of car owners if the car is over 13 years old.

If you buy a new car you should have no problems with the engine, but there is always a small chance of recalls. Check the dealerships history, and make sure it is a respectable one. You don’t want to buy from a dealership that sells broken down cars, but when you buy new nine times out of ten you get a amazing deal if you go to the right place. Keep in mind that the interest rates might be to high if you don’t talk them down. You want to get your moneys worth not pay twice as much then what the car is worth.
Which every way you buy a car new or used there is always a risk to it, but there is always a plus side too. When you buy a used car you save a lot of money, but you run the risk of a bad engine. When you buy new you can run the risk of paying a lot more then what you should, but you get a reliable engine with no problems.

Every used car has a history, and the trick is finding out the history. No matter who you buy from you need to get the history. Most respectable dealerships will offer to give you the cars history, but if you are buying from just one person you need to be really careful. Not every one tells the truth when they are looking to make money.
Check the exterior for scratches and anything else you can find, but keep in mind this is a used car. They will be worn form use so you can’t expected it to look brand new. The next thing to do is check the interior. Make sure there are no major problems like a seat ripped in two, and if there is not it should be fine.
One of the last things to do is check the engine. Ask how many miles are on the engine. Check the battery, belts, and fans. Look at the oil and transmission fluid. You don’t want to buy a car then turn around and spend money to fix it less then 6 months later.
Make your money work for you, but don’t expect to much when you are buying used. The idea is to save money so the car will have scratches and a couple problems with the engine, but it shouldn’t be anything major.

The Ford Kuga is a compact, five-seat crossover designed by Englishman Martin Smith, who left General Motors to join Ford in early 2004. He and his team created an aerodynamic yet extroverted skin, which is accentuated by available wheels as large as nineteen inches. Stylish and fashionable, the new crossover from Ford of Europe is about the same length as a Ford Escape, but it sits astride a 2.8-inch-longer wheelbase. Where the Kuga is a new car, it is probable that you will not be able to find a used one on the lots. But if you want to look, you can look anywhere that has Charlotte used cars.
Some compare the Kuga to the Pontiac Solstice which has been available since 2006. The Pontiac Solstice is a two-door; two-passenger convertible powered by a twin-cam, four-valve-per-cylinder 177 horsepower 2.4L ECOTEC I4 engine matched with Variable Valve Timing for enhanced engine performance. The Solstice GXP model is fitted with 260 horsepower 2.0L Turbo ECOTEC I4 direct fuel engine. You can service your Solstice at any Pontiac service dealer.
Back to the Kuga. The interior is unlike anything sold in a U.S. Ford in its design. Its more rounded and enveloping, with nary a hint of truck-based inspiration. Ford says that it is appointed with plenty of gloss finishes and leather trim pieces — the center console appears leather wrapped and the seats are upholstered in a two-tone cloth/leather mix.
The Kuga buyer’s most significant option, though, is all-wheel drive. Ford chose a progressively variable AWD system that employs a Haldex clutch to distribute the forces between the axles. A brake-operated virtual limited-slip differential optimizes the side-to-side torque flow.
