Keep Your Teen Safe!
Friday, January 21st, 2011
Besides buying your teenage driver a car from WI Subaru, there are a few other tips and tricks you can implement to keep them safe. If you are adding a teenager to your insurance policy, then your rates have likely skyrocketed. If you young driver is behind the wheel of their Used Cars KS vehicle and get a ticket or an accident, your insurance premiums are going to go up even more. Plus, we want our children to remain safe while they are driving their Subaru Dealers California car. Despite improved technology and safety features in the newer vehicles, teenage drivers are still four times more likely to be involved in a fatal accident than experienced drivers over the age of 25.
First off, do not be afraid to establish some ground rules with your young driver. Just because they have a license and are sixteen years old does not mean that they have the right to drive. Driving is still a privilege, and setting a curfew can be one of the smartest things done to a teenager. Statistics show that the fatality rate for night driving is twice that of daytime driving for teens. There is limited visibility, young drivers are inexperienced, the roads are often more crowded during rush hour, and in the late evening there are more drunk drivers on the road.
Some additional ground rules might include limiting cell phone use and making sure they wear their seat belt. Texting while driving is a huge no-no, and if your young driver sees you doing it, then they think it is allowed. Parents need to be a good role model and encourage anyone else driving your teenager to do the same. Seat belts are not a suggestion, it is a law to protect your safety. Lastly, make sure your teenage driver is focused on driving not on what is going on around them. Have them switch their phones to silent while they are driving so they won’t be tempted to answer them unless their vehicle comes with Bluetooth.
Getting To Your Teens Through Their Car!

As all car-owners as well as parents know, there will come a time when your teenage daughter or son may want a car, and as fulfilling your dutiful role as a parent you are going to want to give them one from dealers such as Doug Henry or Beechmont Ford. Of course, you may however not want to give them the keys to death or any type of situation that may harm them even though the reality of that happening still remains quite blatant. The good news is that even though you cannot legally stop them from getting their licenses or being behind the wheel, you can still help to make sure they are in your line of vision even when they are not.
In the modern day and age parents can literally ride shotgun through technology and help to monitor where their teen is, what is going on within the vehicle thanks to a built-in camera, even how high they turn up the radio and if they are in a forbidden area.
Even on vehicles such as the all-new 2010 Ford Focus there has been a new technology program that Ford has adopted known as the MyKey which allows parents to set the speed of the car to a maximum limit, the radio, even ensure that your child wears their safety belt with a chiming alarm that doesn’t stop going off until their seat belt is in place–even a muted stereo until the action is done!
Rest assure parents, you don’t have to be with your kids to be with them and keep them safe. Thanks to new technologies and even better ideas your kids are sure to be in good hands.
