Forget the Kids, Focus on the Baby Boomers!

Sunday, January 30th, 2011

While you might think that the vehicles from Ontario Porsche Dealership are starting to appeal to a younger crowd because of their flashy advertising techniques, you would be wrong.  The largest buying power right now comes from the Baby Boomers because they are the largest demographic in our country.  Plus, people who are close to retirement age have far more money to spend at Mercedes Dealer Virginia than your average young buyer.  Some might argue that young shoppers are the ones to target because they are more influenced by peer pressure and the media to have the latest and greatest technology, but the bottom line is that most of the younger shoppers can’t afford the vehicles from MD Mercedes Dealers.  This proves that targeting the Baby Boomer generation might be the best for sales.

You are a member of the Baby Boomer generation if you were born between 1946 and 1964, and it is estimated that there are about 77 million members of this generation.  It has already been shown that in 2010 shoppers over the age of 50 spent about $87 billion on vehicle purchases while the crowd under 50 years old only spent $70 billion.  The older generation groups want to be comfortable in their vehicles but they also car about what type of car they are driving.  While their parents might have preferred a Lincoln Town Car or Grand Marquis, many people are quite comfortable in the affordable luxury that Cadillac and Lincoln are offering in their modernized creations.

Despite the sheer numbers for the Baby Boomers’ buying power, we still see auto makers advertising for the younger crowd.  Perhaps no one wants to see someone with gray hair on their television commercial or they might fear that the group of young buyers they do have would be turned off knowing that the vehicle they are driving is also popular with their parents or grandparents.  It will be interesting to see how the advertisements continue to change as auto makers are realizing that they are ignoring their largest target audience and leaving money on the table, so to speak.

Turn the Key and GO!

Sunday, January 30th, 2011

In these tough economic times, people are trying to save as much money as possible and that includes buying the most fuel efficient vehicles they can find over at Chevrolet Dealers Lubbock.  Sadly, when people finally get those vehicles home, they end up wasting tons of their hard-earned money by letting their vehicles unnecessarily idle.  We understand that no one wants to climb into their Vineland Ford vehicle if it is freezing cold in the mornings, but there has to be a better way to get your car to a comfortable temperature without letting it run in your driveway for five minutes or so.  While people are thankful for the remote start that some of the cars at Chevrolet Dealership Peoria come with, remote start can reduce your fuel economy because you let your car run too long while idling.

There are some simple things you can do to help save you money and keep you warm in your car.  Vehicles with fuel injection really only need between 10 and 30 seconds when you first start the car to let the oil get moving; then, it is safe to drive and won’t harm the engine whatsoever.  Plus, the car will actually “warm up” faster if you are driving rather than sitting in your driveway.  Some cities across the wintery regions of the country have actually enacted anti-idling ordinances because of the increased levels of pollution that an idling car creates.

A lot of these cities claim that idling releases extra levels of emissions and creates poor breathing environments for you and your neighbors.  When your vehicle is idling it is harmful to the engine because it is using a gasoline-rich technique that can damage the engine over time and causes an increase of carbon residue inside the engine.  One organization even estimates that if you idle daily in the mornings to warm up your car you can waste up to twenty gallons of gas per year!

EPA to set new fuel economy numbers;

Sunday, January 30th, 2011

The Environmental Protection Agency along with the California Air Resources Board will be setting new fuel economy numbers in 2011. Fuel efficient luxury vehicles brands like Lexus can be purchased from Chantilly Lexus dealerships. The federal government will be working with car manufacturers to announce the fuel economy standards ahead of time to allow automakers such as Jaguar, whose models can be purchased from Jaguar Dealers Shreveport and other manufacturers to improve their vehicles’ fuel economy ratings. Other fuel efficient used models can be purchased from KS Used Cars dealerships.

A new mandate for fuel efficiency will go into effect in 2017, and automakers will have 6 years to prepare for the changes. The new recommendations will be published on Sept 1, 2011. There will not be different regulations for each state but rather federal regulations that automakers will have to meet. The fuel economy number shift will have dramatic implications on vehicle production and the direction that most automakers are now taking is to produce models which will meet the new recommendations.

The range that the EPA is looking at for 2025 is around 47 to 62 mpg. It is most likely that automakers will begin producing more hybrid models, as it is unlikely that traditional gasoline models will be able to achieve that level of fuel economy. As a result, more hybrids will be produced as well as more small vehicles in order to keep in line with the recommendations. In 2009, the battle between California and the federal government over California’s attempt to create separate fuel economy mandates ended with matching standards being set for 2012 through 2016. The negotiations between the California Air Resources Board and Washington D.C. resulted in the new regulations and the end result of auto manufacturers having to be more focused on fuel economy. As a result, newer models will be more fuel efficient than in previous years.

A Peculiar Coupe From Hyundai, The Veloster?

Thursday, January 27th, 2011

The Detroit Auto Show has news from small upgrades, to new concepts, to new mass produced vehicles.  Hyundai has made news with the newly introduced coupe.  The sales consultants at Richmond Hyundai Dealers know that these will be a success among the younger generation drivers.  Hyundai Veloster is their new coupe even though they do have the Genesis.  Hyundai was noted for saying “Why can we not have two”, (coupes that is).  One of thehe differences between the Genesis and the Veloster is, the Genesis is rear wheel drive and the Veloster is front wheel drive.  The Hyundai Veloster has a unique, off the wall design.  It might be intended but it looks like it is off center.  On the passenger side is the regular door plus another one that opens up to the backseat, which is conveniently roomy.  The Veloster is a compact, five seater with a hatchback.

Now, Hyundai has made several options standard on the Veloster.  This is what sets it apart from their competition is what Manchester Hyundai Dealership has said.  It will come with a seven inch touch screen even if you do not opt for the Navigation.  The Pandora Internet Radio fed through a connection with the driver’s smartphone.  Don’t worry, it will still have storage for your pictures, videos and music.  The other options Veloster has for the consumers is the 115 volt outlet, that any one gaming console can be played but only while it is in park.  Hyundai considers this a safety feature.  Blue Link will also be offered on the 2012 Veloster, which is a similar to the GM’s OnStar.  Hyundai does plan on having three levels of service but prices are not available at this time.

Under the hood powering the Veloster is a 1.6 L four cylinder that produces the whopping 138 horsepower and 123 pounds feet of torque.  Now, there have been rumors confirmed that a 210 horsepower turbo charged version of the same engine.  The Veloster will have either the six speed manual or the six speed dual clutch automatic.  Hyundai is estimating about forty miles per gallon on the highway.  Now, if the this new concept, funky design is not your style, you can always shop at Nissan Dealership Tuscaloosa, they might have a simple design for your interest.

Keep Your Teen Safe!

Friday, January 21st, 2011

Besides buying your teenage driver a car from WI Subaru, there are a few other tips and tricks you can implement to keep them safe.  If you are adding a teenager to your insurance policy, then your rates have likely skyrocketed.  If you young driver is behind the wheel of their Used Cars KS vehicle and get a ticket or an accident, your insurance premiums are going to go up even more.  Plus, we want our children to remain safe while they are driving their Subaru Dealers California car.  Despite improved technology and safety features in the newer vehicles, teenage drivers are still four times more likely to be involved in a fatal accident than experienced drivers over the age of 25.

First off, do not be afraid to establish some ground rules with your young driver.  Just because they have a license and are sixteen years old does not mean that they have the right to drive.  Driving is still a privilege, and setting a curfew can be one of the smartest things done to a teenager.  Statistics show that the fatality rate for night driving is twice that of daytime driving for teens.  There is limited visibility, young drivers are inexperienced, the roads are often more crowded during rush hour, and in the late evening there are more drunk drivers on the road.

Some additional ground rules might include limiting cell phone use and making sure they wear their seat belt.  Texting while driving is a huge no-no, and if your young driver sees you doing it, then they think it is allowed.  Parents need to be a good role model and encourage anyone else driving your teenager to do the same.  Seat belts are not a suggestion, it is a law to protect your safety.  Lastly, make sure your teenage driver is focused on driving not on what is going on around them.  Have them switch their phones to silent while they are driving so they won’t be tempted to answer them unless their vehicle comes with Bluetooth.

Showing Off the Nissan Frontier!

Wednesday, January 19th, 2011

There are a handful or so of great compact trucks on the market today, but even Nissan Dealer Fairfield knows that their full size pick up truck is more popular than their compact Nissan Frontier.  That being said, there are plenty of great reasons to go for the smaller truck.  First of all, the price of the 2011 Nissan Frontier from Sacramento Nissan Dealer is quite a bit less than their full size Titan, but you can end up paying a lot for the higher trim levels.  Consumers like the smaller trucks because they usually have higher fuel economy, and shoppers at Nissan Dealership Virginia are usually drawn to those vehicles with the best fuel ratings.

The 2011 Nissan Frontier has a starting price of $17,750 but the highest trim level will set you back $31,630.  Sometimes vehicles sell for less than their asking price, but Nissan’s product is high enough quality that consumers are willing to pay sticker price.  Plus, you will have a lower fuel bill because you get 19 mpg around town and 23 mpg on the highway.  Drivers appreciate the Frontier for its power and long list of optional upgrades.  The main complaints have to do with the interior cabin space, especially for back seat passengers; this is a common complaint for any compact pick up truck.  You have to upgrade to the Nissan Titan if you need more back seat room.

There are two different engine choices for the 2011 Nissan Frontier.  First off is the 2.5-liter four cylinder that puts out 152 horsepower and 171 pound feet of torque.  The base model comes standard with a five-speed manual transmission, which is plenty adequate for the engine size.  Some of the higher trim levels come with a 4.0-liter V6 engine that produces 261 horsepower as well as 281 pound feet of torque.  Also, there is the option for either a six-speed manual transmission or even a five-speed automatic if you don’t want to deal with a  clutch every day.

Nissan Maxima Gets Better With Time

Thursday, January 6th, 2011

There are so many fantastic sedans available over at Syracuse Ford Dealers right now that it is tough to make the right choice.  The good news is that plenty of other brands besides American auto companies are making high quality sedans with tons of features.  Take, for instance, the 2011 Nissan Maxima.  This sedan offers luxury that is perfectly intertwined with family features all wrapped up in an affordable price.  Just like at Ford Augusta, you can easily go well above the base price when you add on the packages!  However, unlike the vehicles at Honda Dealers Los Angeles, the options for the Maxima are grouped in packages and there are very few individual options that you are able to purchase.

Like previous years, the Maxima comes in two trim levels for the 2011 year; S and SV.  All of your optional features are only available on the SV trim level, but even then the highest package comes in at only $36,760.  There have been a few minor changes for 2011 and they include some new exhaust tips on all models.  Also, if you decide to go with the popular Sport package, you will notice that your headlights are now smoked, your grille is a darker chrome that stands out from the rest of the crowd, and the interior features gray stitching.  Not too many changes but enough so that you can tell the difference between the new and the old!

Current Nissan Maxima drivers love the power under the hood and report that they feel like they are driving more of a performance luxury sedan than what you would expect for the price.  The 2011 model Maxima comes loaded with nearly 300 horsepower, which is quite a bit more than you average family sedan!  The handling is smooth thanks to its chassis that has been perfected over the years.  Inside, you feel the quality of the materials that Nissan chose to use for their Maxima.  Nothing looks like it is going to break in a couple of years and there are plenty of standard features to keep you satisfied.  Drivers are also reporting that the optional navigation system is incredibly easy to use, much more so than what you find in the more luxurious vehicles.
