GM Spends $145 Million for Buick Verano

As the small car market becomes increasingly popular, Collision Repair North Haven is spending more time fixing cars rather than selling them. As consumers find vehicles that they love, they are willing to spend a bit to fix them rather than trade in and pay more money. One example of spending more money comes from General Motors, and their recent announcement that they are going to spend $145 million to retool one of their factories so they can produce the 2012 Buick Verano. They feel confident after the success of small car sales from Ithaca Ford Dealers that a near-luxury compact car from Buick will be popular among consumers.
Now that the Pontiac Price Yukon line has been discontinued, GM can spend more money on their current line ups. In addition to the Verano, GM is going to spend a total of $600 million at their Orion Township factory to prepare it for production of the Verano and the newly redesigned Chevy Aveo. The Aveo was previously produced in South Korea, but keeping production local will help keep the prices down for American consumers. We can expect the price range to be well under $30,000 and you will see production start in summer of 2011, so the model should hit dealership lots early in 2012.
GM is also hopeful that the Verano will be popular in the U.S. market because a version of it has already been released in China earlier this year. The Buick Excelle GT as well as the new Verano both share the global car platform from the Chevy Cruze. However, the Buick versions of the Cruze will feature more luxury upgrades and distinguished exterior designs. You can expect more chrome on the outside as well as wood and metal accent pieces on the interior to give it that plush feeling we have come to expect from Buick over the years.
Scion Sales Are In a Slump

What used to be a really popular car has left its loyal fans disappointed and wanting more. Scion was introduced back in 2004 as a cheaper and more hip version of Toyota. There may be tons of Ford Discounts Hampton right now, but Scion needs to remember that and focus their efforts on returning to what made them popular in the first place; their quirky design. Given the popularity among young drivers, hopefully too many didn’t wreck their cars; you can always turn to Collision Center Renton if you did!
Just like Lincoln Body Service in Millville is known for their relatively affordable luxury vehicles, Scion is known for producing affordable and unique vehicles. This marketing tactic really appeals to the younger drivers who don’t want a basic boring sedan to drive but also don’t have an excess of money to spend. The original Scion was the boxy xB; it was soon copy-catted by the Nissan Cube and Kia Soul. But, for the first two years of Scion’s life, their sales were soaring. Perhaps once the newness of the Kia Soul fades away the Scion brand will be able to resume its spot in the limelight.
Currently, there are three cars in the line up; xD, xB, and tC. The tC makes up 40% of the total sales for the brand, and its sports car design is relatively timeless. As Toyota dealerships go above and beyond usual efforts to try to sell the Scion vehicles on their lots, they are hoping that some new inventory and design might help their efforts. The eco-conscious Scion iQ will be released in Spring of 2011 and is a larger version of the Smart ForTwo, but manages to carry a third passenger in the backseat. Scion really needs to stick with what they know and return to their unique designs that made them popular in the first place.
